Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to offer the criterion by which econometric program packages should be evaluated and to show a time-, labor-, and resource-saving as well as cost-reducing method for the estimation of a large-scale simultaneous equations model. The method to be discussed here is not concerned with model evaluation but with equation evaluation in practice. The method to be presented has already been adopted in the Econometric Program Package, OEPP and been proven to work well.

OEPP stands for "Onishi Econometric Program Package," developed by the author. Data management, input-output analysis, econometric estimation, and econometric simulation by time series data, cross-sectional data, and pooling data can be handled.
