Abstract

The paper reviews current and historical energy demand for transportation at the global and world regional level and discusses its underlying structure and trends in goods and (long-distance and short-distance) passenger transport. Various scenarios for transportation energy demand over the next decades are reviewd and analyzed with respect to the relationship between population growth and transport energy demand.
