A quantitative systems analytic model is required to evaluate various agricultural policies as the different policy instruments interact and affect variously the many objectives which governments have. The policy instruments should be indentified clearly in the model which should also reflect the institutional structure of the economy and in particular of the agricultural sector. A broad structure of an agricultural policy model along with the objectives and instruments of policy in India are described.
