Abstract

This dataset was developed to get High resolution Urban Population for an Asian air pollution assessment project. This data supports a detailed and flexible modeling of emission and PM exposure in Asian cities larger than 100000 inhabitants. For each identified urban extent it provides population numbers for points extracted from a 1/1200 x 1/1200 degree raster dataset. In addition to the urban data for our modeling regions 0.5x0.5 degree polygon layer with population statistics from the raster data is provided. This data set is derived from open data and might be useful for other types of urban modeling. The use of this data is welcomed, but no warranties are given.
