N2  - The modeling of the agricultural sector for policy analysis by means of a nonlinear program is discussed. The proposed approach incorporates microeconomic theory, reveals technical relations found in the production process and the parameters of the model can be econometrically estimated. An application of the approach to a member country of the European Communities is outlined.
