Methodological approaches to address network resilience ispublished: pub divisions: prog_asa abstract: In the context of social systems, diffusion processes are used to model opinion dynamics in large-scale networks. We focus on a scenario where a set of agents has constant opinion, so-called stubborn agents, and show their impact on the final opinion formation. In the context of natural-social systems, several examples will be presented to give an overview of the range of tools used in the analysis of network resilience. For instance, the resilience of national and regional economies will be explored by analyzing the impact of extreme, low-probability and high-impact scenarios of external shocks. The behavior of the considered interconnected systems is too complex to be modeled by traditional tools, and therefore, several examples with qualitative (e.g. soft systems mapping) and quantitative (e.g. agent-based modeling) methods and approaches will be presented. date: 2016-03-30 date_type: published official_url: http://http://emcsr.net/ creators_browse_id: 331 creators_browse_id: 298 creators_browse_id: 235 creators_browse_id: 176 full_text_status: public pres_type: paper event_title: European Meetings on Cybernetics and Systems Research event_location: Vienna event_dates: 30 March-1 April 2016 event_type: conference refereed: FALSE coversheets_dirty: FALSE fp7_type: info:eu-repo/semantics/conferenceObject citation: Wildemeersch, M.
