The paper seeks to tally the major improvements facilitated by integrated assessments in understanding the global warming problem and the crucial unresolved problems they currently face. The basic conclusion is that, as a result of a healthy diversity in practice, integrated assessments show significant progress in structuring the economic issues of climate change and providing the first broad insights into policy options. But, as some of the simple and traditional cases seem to be solved, more complex and difficult contingencies come to the fore. This suggests a long way to go to develop skills that will be required to address the numerous open issues. date: 1995 date_type: published publisher: Elsevier id_number: 10.1016/0301-4215(95)90152-W iiasapubid: XJ-95-051 iiasa_bibref: Energy Policy; 23(4/5):253-267 [1995] creators_browse_id: 3087 full_text_status: none publication: Energy Policy volume: 23 number: 4 pagerange: 253-267 refereed: TRUE issn: 0301-4215 coversheets_dirty: FALSE fp7_type: info:eu-repo/semantics/article citation: Toth, F.L.
