The results of these studies vary, depending on the approach taken and the model used. For this reason, the authors decided to consider more broadly what variables should be included in such studies and how the choice of different models affects the results. In particular, emphasis is given to the role of changes in the number of households rather than changes only in population size. The calculations show that already this choice of a different demographic variable makes a considerable difference in study results. PB RR-96-006.
