Y1 - 1996/// N2 - In this article, future scenarios for Mauritius are described with a special focus on the interaction of different factors which can limit or hinder growth. Mauritius is a small, densely populated island where natural and human resource limits are obvious. The scenarios describe current trends on Mauritius well. They give a fine-tuned feeling for the differential impacts of labor, land, water, and pollution absorption capacity. They show that at various points in the course of development different limiting factors function, and thus it is necessary to give attention to all major factors of production and limitation in one holistic setting.
