Abstract
Professor Arnulf Grubler is a Senior Research Scholar and Acting Program Leader of the Transitions to New Technologies Program at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (Laxenburg, Austria), as well as a Professor in the Field of Energy and Technology at the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies at Yale University (CT, USA). His research focuses on the interplay between energy and technology systems and their implications on the environment, and on the major transitions in energy and technology systems that occurred during the last 300 years. Professor Grubler served as lead author for two major 100-year energy and carbon future scenario studies, and has been serving as lead and contributing author, and as review editor for the Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Assessment Reports of the IPCC (co-recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize). Professor Arnulf Grubler speaks to Ruth Williamson, Commissioning Editor of Carbon Management, about his achievements to date and current research activities, as well as future outlooks and research priorities for a low-carbon society.
