Abstract
The synthesis report "Assessing Pathways toward Ambitious Climate Targets at the Global and European Levels" presents the following key findings from the AMPERE project:
- Global progress to reduce greenhouse gas emissions over the next two decades is crucial for achieving ambitious climate targets at low costs
- Europe can signal the will for strong emissions reductions - with large climate benefits if others follow
- Decarbonisation holds challenges and opportunities for Europe
These findings are based on the AMPERE research efforts by 22 international institutions from February 2011 to January 2014 with the use of 17 energy-economy and integrated assessment models.
