The production of synthetic hydrocarbons and hydrogen provides a unique and proper mode and reason for the introduction of the HTGR. Analysis of market penetration by new technologies, well fitted by logistic functions, and consideration of the economies of scale and the existing pipe line mode of transporting fluids shows that the nineteen nineties is a proper time period for the introduction of the HTGR.
