Abstract

This paper is one of a series prepared by IIASA's Survey Project in cooperation with the Computer Services Department on the topic of using the computer to communicate. Our aim is to make the IIASA computer more accessible to IIASA scientists for a wide range of people-oriented activities computer-based text editing and text formatting, decision support systems, computerized conferencing, multi-author manuscript preparation, and other operations promoting international team research among widely dispersed research teams. This particular paper talks mostly about the standard IIASA screen-oriented text editor program edx because edx is the starting point for anyone wishing to use the IIASA computer to communicate.
