Abstract
Outlines the major components of human settlement problems: the demographics of rapid urbanization and the resource-service demands generated. If rapid urbanization proceeds, what are the resource and service demands generated? Is it high fertility or high rural- urban migration which mainly causes rapid urbanization? Should agricultural and rural development play a greater role, and are major cities in less developed countries too large?
