Abstract
This invited presentation was part of a two day conference to showcase the work done under the EO4GEO skills Alliance aimed at supporting the building of skills in the EO*GI (Earth Observation and Geographic Information) sector needed for implementing numerous policies such as the European Green Deal and the monitoring of the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This presentation discussed the role of citizen science in the EO*GI sectors, outlined gaps and needs, and gave some recommendations for how these can be bridged. IIASA's work in this area was also showcased during the presentation, disseminating this research to a broad audience including the European Commission, the European Space Agency, the European Environment Agency, as well as representatives from the private sector, academia and training providers.
