Abstract
This document describes the update of soil suitability procedures used in the Global Agro-Ecological Zoning version 5. The update was necessitated by and is directly related to the release of the Harmonized World Soil Database version 2.2, which specifically updates HWSD v2.01. The HWSD developed by FAO and the International Institute for Applied System Analysis (IIASA) is especially intended for applications in biophysical models and agro-ecological assessments.
