Abstract
This interactive Schoolyard session explores the role of citizen science in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Urban Monitoring Framework (UMF). Through practical examples and a live demonstration of the Picture Pile application developed by , participants will examine how citizen-generated data can complement official statistics, strengthen urban monitoring, and support evidence-based policymaking. The session focuses particularly on housing, slums, and informal settlements, while addressing challenges related to data quality, governance, and inclusive participation. Participants will engage directly with the application and discuss how community-driven approaches can contribute to stronger local and global urban outcomes.
