Abstract

The aim of this paper is to combine well-known theoretical approaches from the theory of production and to apply them to a data base drawn up within the framework of modern input-output statistics. The changes in I/O coefficients observed for the Canadian basic metal industry are attributed to changes in microtechnologies brought about by shifts in the relative prices and the output structure of this industry.
