Abstract

This report describes the RAINS (Regional Acidification INformation and Simulation) computer model, which provides a scientific overview of acidification, and links the science with policies for controlling acidification. RAINS is a scenario-generating device that allows its users to visualize the future impacts of current actions (or inaction), as well as to design a transition strategy toward long-term environmental goals.
