Abstract

This volume contains papers presented at a colloquium attended by experts in various areas of regional development from 10 countries of Eastern and Western Europe and from the USA and Canada. These contributions present an overview of problems at the national, regional, and local levels and possible solutions, which could be placed at the disposal of the local authorities in those countries undergoing an economic transition process. This book will be of interest to all who wish to obtain a realistic picture of the situation in Central and East European countries, thus facilitating their efficient interaction with a rapidly changing region of the world.
