Abstract

Wind energy, with an average growth rate of 30%, is the fastest growing source of renewable energy inthe world. India occupies the fifth place in the world in wind energy generation after USA, Germany, Spain, and China and has an installed capacity of more than 975 MW as of January 31, 2009. New technological developments in wind energy design have contributed to the significant advances in wind energy penetration and to get optimum power from available wind. In this study, an attempt has been made to analyze and review the development and dissemination of wind energy in India. The diffusion prospect of wind energy generation in the potential states of India is also analyzed.
