Abstract
The team of Siberian sociologists which I have been leading for the last few years is making a study of the development of rural areas. As far as I know it is the only Soviet scientific team which consistently bases the study of a complex social system upon the methodology of systems analysis.
The primary target of our team was to investigate the reasons for rural-to-urban migration and to look for policies which would discourage out-migration and therefore provide rural areas with the needed labor force.
