This presentation was given at the Sustainability Research & Innovation Congress (SRI2022), hosted by the Future Africa Institute at the University of Pretoria, 20 to 24 June 2022. It set the scene in a session entitled ‘Citizen Science and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’, defining citizen science, and providing some examples of where citizen science can contribute to the monitoring of the SDGs, in particular, in Ghana to monitor an SDG indicator related to marine plastic pollution.
