Abstract

RAPS-China currently consists of the following components: a) A province- level database with more than 300 variables on rural and regional development in China, organized into six major development dimensions. b) A set of software tools to browse, filter, and sort these data records. c) A module for combining variables into customized regional development indicators, such as a Human Development Index, etc. d)A set of software tools to visualize the spatial distribution of variables and indices. These consist of thematic maps, bar charts, radar diagrams and scatter plots. RAPS-China was officially released on October 8, 2004 (Most recent internal version: 1.02).
